Message from Professor G.L. Peiris, Minister of Justice, Constitutional Affairs, Ethnic Affairs and National Integration and Deputy Minister of Finance
I welcome the
foreign delegates who are visiting Sri Lanka to participate in the World
Congress of the New Age Integrated Medicine For The Third Millennium
hosted By The Open International University from 31st December 1999 to 2nd January 2000 A.D.
at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall.
It is a matter
for deep satisfaction that OIUCM headquartered in Sri Lanka, has
consistently played a vigorous role in spreading the philosophies and practices
of Complementary Medicine throughout the world in the past 37 years.
A large number of
medical doctors, clinicians and researchers visit Sri Lanka each year from most
parts of the world to learn the modalities related to these traditional
therapeutics. Throughout history our nation has always considered it a matter of
the highest priority to promote every type of healing, both scientific and
traditional that benefits humanity. Diverse initiatives have imparted strength
and vitality to the culture of health care where the need to derive the greatest
benefit from the resources utilized is of paramount importance today.
I take this
opportunity to wish the delegates a fruitful exchange of ideas and a pleasant
stay in Sri Lanka.
